Lux Makes the Case for South Carolina Lawyers

There are many legal stereotypes, from Law and Order to OJ defense counsel Robert Kardashian to the “greedy” lawyers who won the multi-million dollar verdict against McDonalds in the hot coffee incident. In 2011, the South Carolina Bar decided to change public perceptions of the law profession with an image campaign.

The Bar came to Lux about producing a statewide television campaign. Lux suggested instead a series of videos disseminated through social media outlets as a more powerful, economical alternative. Unlike traditional paid media, web-based video is accessible 24/7, searchable, and if done well, viral.

It made sense to the Bar and on August 1, the Proud to be a South Carolina Lawyer campaign was launched, the basis of which are12 Lux written and produced videos featuring South Carolina attorneys who talk about why they became lawyers, how they help others, and what their profession means to them. The Bar is disseminating the videos on YouTube, Facebook and at www.scbar.org, and promoting via e-newsletters and public relations. View the campaign:
